Even if this panel isn’t well elaborated, it’s very meaningful. For the first time ever, Mikan reveals her feelings to Natsume, after all the pining and the obstacles they have faced together. There is no immediate happy ending for them. Mikan is still trapped and Natsume is still trying to save her from her prison, but their feelings for each other are so strong that they are willing to risk their life for the other.

I really loved Ulquiorra. And I really enjoyed the way Kubo depicted his bond with Orihime. I know that his death made sense, but I still feel sad. He was such a good character and he was beginning to open up to Orihime. Anyway, Ulquiorra was also a really good villain who helped Ichigo go beyond his limits to save his friend.

I remember that the first time I saw this panel I literally freaked out. I had been waiting for this moment for so long that my reaction was totally out of control (also, Amuro is my favorite character, so I was totally looking forward to his confrontation with Akai). The funny thing is that the fandom has used this panel to make a lot of hilarious memes.

Since I’m a Kirishima stan, I couldn’t not include this panel in the list. I was so proud of my baby the first time I saw this. Thanks to his best friend’s words, he managed to overcome his fears, to collect his determination and courage, to understand his real valor, in order to face his insecurities. Finally, he has become strong enough to fight with all his strength against his enemies and to protect the people who are important to him.

Ishida’s drawing skills are excellent! The whole Tokyo Ghoul manga is full of amazing and dynamic pages that can catch the readers’ eyes. This above is just one example. The reason I chose it is the broken glass in the background. The windows of the building have been shattered in little asymmetrical pieces during the fight. Now they are suspended in midair before their fall to the ground and each piece reflects the light of the illuminated city in different ways.

This is the first time in the manga we see Yoshino cry. We know that his personality is different from Mahiro’s, but we have never seen him showing his true feelings. He always looks calm and collected, but he also hides how he feels and is ready to lie if necessary. But this time, he breaks down in front of Hakaze and finally we see his tears and his weaknesses.

I have rooted for these two since the first pages of the manga and I have been waiting for this moment for so long! I hate slow burn romances, but I still insist on suffering and reading them anyway. By the way, finally Hak and Yona managed to confess their feelings for each other and are now a couple! I’m looking forward to the developments of their relationship.

Eden’s Zero is the newest work of Mashima after Fairy Tail. I have always thought that Mashima’s drawing skills were very good, but in this manga he is surpassing himself. The people on this panel are the Heavenly Knights of the Dancing Sakura, twelve legendary heroes. What I like about this drawing is not the knights in the foreground, but the background full of stars and the flying sakura petals that represent the Sakura Cosmos.

Riko is a character that appears just in flashbacks, but she is an important element. In this panel, she looks like an average shojo manga character, who is on a field trip with her classmates in Okinawa and is enjoying a visit at the aquarium. Her eyes are focused on the glass behind which fishes and whales are swimming peacefully. She truly was a normal teenager, but fate had something else in plan for her.

My precious and brave Elliot… There aren’t enough words in this world to describe how this panel hurts me. Elliot knew that if he rejected Humpty Dumpty, he would die, but he chose to do it anyway. He chose to sacrifice his own life in order to stop the power of the Chain, dying as he lived, as a noble young boy. His facial expression in this panel breaks my heart. He looks resigned to his tragic destiny, but at the same time he is relieved because with this action he is saving his family. Elliot deserved more…

I really like the clean art of this manga. This panel, in which there are four of the most important characters, is truly a showcase for the whole series. All of them are focused on the kitchen and are trying to help each other. This is also one of the most valuable aspects of Food Wars: friendship.

Ah, the sweet flavor of freedom. Emma and the others can finally taste it for the first time. In this panel, the children have finally escaped from the orphanage and are ready to face their future. This scene is very symbolic: the children are looking towards the sun that is appearing at the skyline. Their back is turned towards the readers and is projecting a black shadow, meaning that they are ready to leave their dark past behind to go towards the light of the rising sun and a new life.

So cool! Ichigo is forced to use his full power against Aizen, but it isn’t enough. So he goes beyond his limits, merging with his Zanpakuto and becoming Getsuga himself. I love how Kubo has portrayed his transformation. The background is completely white, while the black wisps are enveloping Ichigo. I’m sure that the author has used this method so that the eye of the reader can focus on Ichigo and Ichigo only, who, by the way, looks amazing! I adore the use of the ink on his whole figure. Ah gosh, the chills!

Waaah, finally we know what a normal Reborn looks like! He looks so handsome and cool in this suit. We have always seen him as a little child, but surely his first real appearance is a shock, not only to us, but to Tsuna too. And like a good self-respecting tutor hitman, he is still taking advantage of this situation to teach a lesson to his poor student.

This panel moved me to tears together with Yato. Finally, he has his own shrine! Even if it’s tiny, to Yato this is the most precious gift Hiyori could ever give him. Like Koufuku says, it’s a great honor, but not only this. Yato now knows that he belongs somewhere, that there are people who are thinking about him, that he is important. There is no greater joy.

Hibari is one of the coolest characters I know. He has an odd personality and is hard to handle, but he is strong and loyal. This is what makes him the most popular character of the series. However, in this panel, Hibari shows up because he wants to “bite to death” the members of the Reborn team. Even though he is a guardian just like Gokudera and the others, he doesn’t care because he wants to fight against them to prove that he is stronger than them. He is hilarious!

This moment is heartbreaking. Escanor tried his best to fight together with his friends, but he went beyond his limits, burning his own body. He knows he is going to die, but he doesn’t give up. In his last moments, he bids goodbye to his friends and finally confesses his feelings to Merlin. And, even though she doesn’t reciprocate his love, she still kisses him, saying that the burns on her body will stay with her to remind her of the only man who has ever loved her.

Why does this panel have such a high score in the emotion section? Well, because I cried my eyes out when I first looked at it. Because this is the last page of the Gintama manga. This series is a rollercoaster. It starts like a comedy manga, but chapter after chapter, you grow attached to every character and to their bonds. They become part of you. To me, Yorozuya is a found family. So, seeing that the manga ends with Shinpachi, Kagura and Gin-chan running towards us is overwhelming.

During their journey to look for the girl’s feathers, Shaoran (yes, the one with the braids) and Sakura find themself in an unknown world, separated from their friends. The one standing in front of them on the winged creature is the King Ashura, a crossover character from a previous work. This scene is so beautiful to look at and perfectly evokes the mysterious and fantasy atmosphere that characterizes this series!

I don’t understand anything about art (I forgot everything I studied at school), but I can definitely tell that Miura was an artist with a capital A! Look at this panel! The dragon, the tower!! I have never seen anything so detailed or perfectly drawn. We can see any single scale of the powerful animal, any single brick of the tall building. It’s unbelievable what a skilful use of the ink can create!

Miura was a real genius. His dedication and skills were on another level. Nishinoya is so cool! I really love this panel in which he manages to catch the ball using his foot. He truly is Karasuno’s Guardian Diety! Leaving aside the coolness of this scene, I want to focus on the drawing. The details of Nishinoya’s shoe are insane! It looks so real, especially the sole. I also like how the author showed the movement of the ball bounce, using not only some visual effect on the point in which the ball hits the shoes, but also a void round form to indicate its trajectory. Very nice!

Dr. Stone’s setting is a reality in which nature has taken over our world, since humanity was turned into stone several hundred years ago. In this panel in which Yuzuriha has almost become one with a tree, we can see with our own eyes a piece of this world. The art is really impressive! The author has managed to show off his drawing abilities, through which he has drawn a realistic and majestic tree with its perfect veins and leaves.

Personally, I have never read this manga. I have only watched the famous drama based on it. Anyway, I think that this panel is truly amazing. The author depicted this moment very well. I suppose it is a dramatic scene, in which the boy is desperately running away and something falls into the sea. The details of the sea waves are perfect, even in the point the flying object hits the surface of the water, generating a splash and sea foam. Also, the alternance between black and white of the smoke feels very real.

There is a meme in which there is a guy who smiles, but at the same time cries, and the caption says “smiling through the pain”. Did you read the text on the panel? I’ll be honest, nothing lasts forever, especially in this manga. The characters smiling together, getting in pose to take a picture? Yeah, it’s just a fleeting moment of happiness. After this, there is only pain and suffering. Even so, it’s really heartwarming seeing all of them together and happy, before everything starts falling apart.

Izuku standing on his feet and screaming in triumph after defeating Muscular is so iconic! After risking his life to save Kota, the child finally realizes what being a true hero means. After his parents’ death, Kota has always been aggressive towards heroes. But this time, when his life is in danger, a hero appears in front of him, a person who fights to protect him, who has just met him but is willing to die for him. This moved Kota so much that Izuku became someone to look up to for him.

The only thing I can think of when I look at this panel is “Oh, wow”. Children of the whales is a great work with an original plot and interesting characters. I have only watched the anime adaptation (that is very good by the way), but I want to catch up with the manga. Now that I have seen with my own eyes what this manga has on its plate in terms of art, I’m definitely looking forward to buying its volumes.

In this panel Light reveals to the police that he is Kira (who would have guessed?) after his epic psychotic laugh (everybody has to thank Mamoru Miyano for this iconic scene in the anime adaptation, he did an amazing job). Here Light looks like a crazy boy with a creepy smile, emphasizing his true colors. His half-turned figure with bent shoulders, the opened eye that is looking directly at the readers, his shadow on the gate… poetically cinematic!

So gorgeous! This panel is amazing! The use of the prospective, the direction and the distortion is brilliant. As Chise is falling, her eyes catch the beauty of the illuminated city in the night. She sees this view upside down, but it’s still breathtaking. I think that the author did a marvelous job with this drawing, because, as we observe it, we see the view in the same way Chise looks at it.

I’m sure that the series’ fans loved this panel. Beside being very well-drawn, the scene depicts the whole Miracle Generation, a sight we are not used to. Throughout the series, we have seen Kuroko and his team play against them one by one or some flashbacks of their middle school days, but now we have the old friends reunited again. This surely is an impactful moment.

Fairy Tail is full of inspirational moments, but this one is my favorite. Through this panel, readers can actually feel the determination of these strong young women and men. They are putting all their efforts to show to everyone what being a member of the Fairy Tail guild means. I think that Mashima did very well in showing this emotion through his art.

This panel is ART! Mochizuki is so good that this panel looks like a black and white picture. I mean, look at the details!! The whole room, full of the decorations that are typical of a Victorian style ballroom, the clothes with all the accessories of the people who are harmonically dancing in the foreground, the stage in the background on which circus performers are entertaining the guests. We can also see some steampunk elements that characterize the manga, like the gears on the stage or the mask and the hat of the couple dancing on the left.

This is the first time Gojo-sensei uses his Domain Expansion. I was so excited. How cool is it? His overpoweredness is astonishing! Also, the details of this scene are great! Jogo is showing an off-guarded expression, while Gojo-sensei is calm and focused. It’s Domain Expansion versus Domain Expansion, but even with a quick glance we can easily understand who will be the winner of the match.

The ones who know the plot of this manga should also know why this panel is so painful. Since her first appearance, the beautiful and lively Kaori has been compared to the sakura trees, the ones that bloom in April with all their gorgeous flowers, but that last just for a few days. These flowers are also one of the symbols of Japan, since they remind people how ephemeral but beautiful our life truly is. And I think that there is no more proper flower that can describe Kaori’s existence.

Can you believe that Zenitsu is the only non-Hashira Demon Slayer to have defeated an upper rank demon by himself? He has also created his own form! Who does it like him? The panel above, in which he singlehandedly overpowers Kaigaku, screams “POWER”. I’m so proud of him!

After his exposure to the Black Blood, Soul obtains a spiritual instrument, the Soul’s Piano. It’s an extremely powerful weapon, but it’s also dangerous for its user, since it can drive people crazy. And this is what is happening in this scene. The author manages to evoke Soul’s fall into madness by drawing straight black lines above his playing figure and a psychotic expression on his face.

How strong is Saitama? Is there a limit to his strength? We can’t know the answers to these questions for sure, but we can see with our own eyes the result of him using his power. The one above is just an example. In this panel, Saitama managed to divide the atmosphere of the planet. And look how well it is portrayed! We can clearly see what he has done in this breathtaking drawing!

I have always compared Itachi to Snape from Harry Potter. They have a lot of similarities, like their act to pretend to be a villain, their undercover actions to protect who they care about, their last moment of honesty. In this panel, Itachi is dying, but he finally can be relieved of his burden and be honest with Sasuke. He touches his forehead, like he has always done when they were little. It’s a sign of affection towards the little brother he treasured so much. It’s a sign that he will always believe in Sasuke and trust that he will become the man he hoped he would be.

This scene is very emotional! Poor Nico Robin wants to go back to her friends and, despite her betrayal, Luffy and the others are ready to fight for her and to even challenge the government to bring her back. Franky is so moved by their friendship and so am I.

From this panel, we can see how much the author worked on the drawing. The subject is the famous explosion of Neo Tokyo that happens in the manga, Akira. Otome managed to portray the danger and the devastation associated with the event through thin lines and the blackness and volume of the center of the catastrophe. A masterpiece!

I have always liked the relationship between Luffy and Zoro. Zoro’s loyalty towards his captain is astonishing. He deeply respects him and he has often demonstrated this on various occasions. One of these is what happens in the panel above. Here the boy decides to be punished by Kuma in Luffy’s place, feeling on his own skin all his captain’s pain during the last fight in Thriller Bark. Zoro went through such a traumatic trial that at the end he was covered in blood and his eyes were bloodshot. However, he didn’t complain about the pain and said that nothing happened.

In this panel, Tatsumaki uses her full power to lift the entire Monster Association Headquarters out of the ground. The details in the main section of the drawing are perfect. Can you feel her power? Can you feel her beauty? Exactly. The reader is thinking the same things as Watanuki and I think that this is what my queen’s CLAMP wanted to accomplish with this panel. Here, Yuko is depicted in all her magnificence, and I love to see that.

I have to bow before Kishimoto’s drawing skills. He drew the entire Leaf Village, with all the details of the single buildings. How did he have the patience to create this magnificent panel? Chika has been through so much that receiving kindness and love from people overwhelms him. He has always been alone, fighting in a world that judged him without knowing the real him. But now, he has people who are willing to stay by his side and fight with him. Now, he has a place where he belongs. And this is what makes him cry his eyes out. I love how the author drew this scene: Chika sobbing in the main section, while his friends watch him fondly, sharing his happiness.

This scene is quite creepy. It’s not in the anime adaptation, so only the manga readers know what I am talking about. It’s at the end of the manga and the people who are on the panel are Kira’s believers. Even though Light is dead, what he represents, his beliefs are still alive inside these people, who have created a cult to worship them.

Ace’s last words are a punch in the stomach. This precious boy has always lived a life full of insecurities and worries. Everytime I look at this panel, I start sobbing. Luffy has been through a lot during the War, but losing his brother truly broke him. Most of all, he feels guilty, because Ace died to protect him, and thinks that he is weak, because he couldn’t save him. His pain has clouded his judgement, making him hurt himself. But thankfully, Jinbe was at his side, helping him realize that even though he had lost his brother, he still had his crew who were waiting for him. This was what pushed him to accept reality and go on with his life.

Can we really feel so attached to a villain who is supposed to be evil? The answer is yes, especially if we are talking about Meruem. I’m sure none of the readers actually hates him. He is so well written, so human, that it’s impossible to despise him. Also, his bond with Komugi is what makes him truly special.
